Classically trained in piano, trumpet and composition, Tommy spent his off time in bands and was inspired by David Bowie, Mick Jagger and John Lennon; and grunge era artists such as Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins. However, it was weekends spent at Brisbane’s Monastery club that first introduced him to the sound of house music…and eventually got him hooked. “I went every Friday and Saturday and just partied my ass off. The music I heard at the club inspired me to start writing music and DJing eventually came along,” he says.
Now based in Los Angeles, ARIA Award-nominated Tommy Trash is one of dance music’s rising stars. Tommy has dominated charts and dance floors alike with over 50 originals and remixes, quickly establishing himself as one of dance music’s most talented and prolific artists. His music has been released by many of the finest dance music labels across the world including Axtone, Cr2, Dim Mak, Great Stuff, Mau5trap, Ministry Of Sound, Mixmash, Musical Freedom, Pinkstar, Rising, Stealth, Subliminal and Toolroom. He’s collaborated with producers including John Dahlback, Moguai and Angger Dimas, and when not busy writing his own hits, he can be found remixing artists such as Armand Van Helden, Dirty South & Thomas Gold, EDX, Green Velvet, Kaskade, Moby, Moguai, Pnau, R3hab & Swanky Tunes, Steve Aoki, Swedish House Mafia vs. Knife Party, Zedd and many more. "Having the opportunity to remix some of my dance music heroes feels quite surreal and I'm so happy to have gotten the nod by them for my work."
Hot mouth was born in 2008, the brain child of Jon Pegnato who began producing what is best described as funky, techy, fun, electro house. In 2009 he began releasing original tracks, collaborations and remixes on InStereo Recordings, Simma, Play Me, PBR and Dirty Fabric and gained several Beatport Top 10 hits that year.
Due to the success of his Hot Mouth production work he was asked collaborate with and ultimately, join LA Riots late in 2009. As 1/2 of LA Riots he has remixed for some of the world's biggest pop and dance artists from Lady Gaga to Tiesto to Steve Aoki. As LA Riots, Jon played around the world, rocking crowds at festivals like Electric Daisy Carnival, Ultra, & Lollapalooza, as well as played some of the worlds biggest night clubs across the globe. In addition to being voted by Beatport as one of 2010's top artists to look out for, the group was also nominated in 2011 as America's top DJ. Over the years Jon's music has gained successful notoriety, with millions of youtube plays, support BBC's Radio 1, and support from top DJs around the world.
After 3 years of the mega-successful LA Riots project, Jon has returned to Hot Mouth, his labor of love, to continue developing the sound he created years ago. Hot Mouth's first release on Chris Lake's label, Rising Music was his EP 'Habits' consisting of two club worthy belters, both infused with techy drums and undulating bass lines. With rising arpeggios leading the way in Bad Habits - Good Habits takes the more electro approach with resonating, choppy leads building throughout.
With his newest remix, Hot Mouth adds his electro touch to Sebastien Drums' "French Rules". The Stealth Records track has been a big club hit this year, reaching #2 on Beatport's House chart.
