Artist & Event Information

Magda is an artist who can never be pinned down, no matter the timeframe or time signature. Any one of the Detroit-raised/Berlin-based artist's DJ sets or productions breeds a rare feel of mystique and discovery. "I'm really obsessed with finding a line between things - between sounds and between genres. My influences come from a life spent in very different environments, which plays a huge role in the way I connect with music."
After being raised in the cornfields of Indiana and brought up on Midwest house & techno (Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, Derrick Carter, D-Wynn), Troy became a bit jaded by ten years in New York where the struggling minimal techno scene consisted of a handful of die-hard fanatics going against the diva-tribal-teck-house of a city that has seen it’s day musically.
Marc Houle grew up in Windsor, Canada with computer games on the brain, New Wave music in his ears, and Detroit as his back yard. Influenced early on by the synthesized sounds of Depeche Mode and Kraftwerk, his love for technology-tinted music was then supplemented in the early 90’s warehouse and clubs of Detroit with a first-class weekly education in Techno from the founders of the genre. In 1997 he began a residency at Richie Hawtin’s club ‘13 Below’ where he hosted a New Wave night accompanied by classic video game consoles for the crowd. It was there that he met Minimal Techno’s first lady, Magda, who then became his lodger and studio companion.
